## About the bank

Uzpromstroybank, known internationally as SQB, was founded in 1991 and holds Central Bank license No. 17 of 25 June 1991. It is state-owned; according to Fitch, as cited by Kursiv Uzbekistan, it is managed by UzNIF. Its assets were UZS 105.2 trillion on 1 August 2026, about USD 8.8 billion at the Central Bank rate of 16 October 2026, and UZS 108.5 trillion on 1 July. That is third place in the country after NBU and Agrobank. Net profit for the first half of 2026 was UZS 1.1 trillion, also third in the country.

## Account for non-residents

Terms for non-residents are not published on the website. The general rules apply: a personal visit, a foreign citizen's passport and a PINFL (personal identification number). In some cases a document confirming the source of funds may be needed. The bank publishes no special terms for Russians. In practice, call first and ask whether your branch issues cards to non-residents.

## Cards and payments

The bank's website lists cards on several networks:

  • UnionPay Diamond, an international UnionPay card;
  • Mastercard World Elite and Visa Infinite, premium cards;
  • UZCARD Virtual and HUMO Virtual, virtual cards in soums.

The UnionPay card is potentially relevant for Russians, since Russian cards on this network are accepted at terminals and ATMs bearing the Uzcard and Humo logos. Mir cards do not work in the country, and the bank does not state SBP (Faster Payments System) support. The SQB Mobile app and the ibank.sqb.uz internet bank exist, but the bank does not state the interface language. Under the anti-fraud rules of 22 April 2026, logging in requires a phone number linked to your PINFL.

## Tariffs and limits

Tariffs for non-resident cards are not given on public pages. The main limits:

  • terms for non-residents are not disclosed;
  • the main website is in Uzbek;
  • the bank may ask you to confirm the source of funds;
  • the bank does not state remote opening.

Before visiting, ask whether a card is issued to a foreigner and to a Russian, in which currency UnionPay Diamond is opened and how much issuance costs, which document confirms the source of funds if the bank requests one, and whether the chosen branch has Russian-speaking staff.

## Who it suits

  • Residents of Uzbekistan and long-term guests who need a UnionPay or premium card.
  • Those ready to find out the terms by phone or at a branch and, if needed, read the bank's materials in Uzbek.
  • Not for those who look for a bank with a Russian-language website and open tariffs for foreigners; compare it with Asia Alliance Bank and Hamkorbank.
