## About the bank

Kapitalbank was founded in 2001 and operates under Central Bank license No. 69. Its assets were UZS 62.1 trillion on 1 August 2026, about USD 5.2 billion at the Central Bank rate of 16 October 2026. That is fourth place in the country and first among banks without state participation. Since 28 December 2022, 61.54% of the shares have been controlled by structures of the Uzum ecosystem, which also includes Uzum Bank, Uzum Market and Uzum Nasiya. In the CERR rating for Q2 2026 it ranked first among large banks, and its net profit for the first half of 2026 was UZS 833.6 billion.

## Account for non-residents

Since 12 September 2022 the bank has required a foreigner to stay in Uzbekistan continuously for more than 15 calendar days, or to study at a university or work officially in the country. The condition applies to Russians as well; there are no separate rules for them. You need a passport, a PINFL (personal identification number) and proof of temporary registration. The first account is opened at a branch only; additional accounts can be opened remotely if you already have a main account.

## Cards and payments

According to third-party reviews, non-residents can get Visa Classic and Gold in dollars, Mastercard Standard in euros and dollars, and Uzcard and Humo cards in soums. Russian Visa and Mastercard cards are not served in Uzbekistan, and Mir does not work. The bank has no confirmed data on UnionPay or SBP (Faster Payments System) support, so ask at a branch. Within the Uzum ecosystem, the Uzum Bank app is available.

## Tariffs and limits

The bank does not publish tariffs for non-resident cards on a separate page. Third-party reviews quote various issue and maintenance fees, which are not a reliable guide. The main limits:

  • the condition on length of stay, study or work;
  • an in-person visit to open the first account;
  • an Uzbek SIM card in your name is needed to log in to the app (anti-fraud rules in force since 22 April 2026).

## Who it suits

  • Foreigners who will stay in Uzbekistan for more than 15 days and want a card from a large bank.
  • Those who want Uzcard and Humo cards linked to a convenient app.
  • Students and employees, who can meet the bank's condition more easily.

For a shorter stay, compare Asia Alliance Bank, whose current leaflet does not state a minimum period. Octobank, by contrast, requires registration of more than three months.
